Chapter XI - About the Author
Jeff Mathias is a Des Moines, Iowa attorney. Jeff practices in consumer bankruptcy, only representing debtors. Jeff grew up in Ames and earned an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and served as a police officer in Arlington, Texas for 10 years prior to attending law school. Jeff earned his Juris Doctorate in at Southern Methodist University School of Law in Dallas and started practicing in Ames in 1998.
Jeff developed a specialty in consumer bankruptcy and has not looked back since. Practicing primarily in consumer bankruptcy has allowed Jeff to develop more web based content so that clients are better informed coming into the process. Jeff is also one of the few area attorneys who have thrown away the long, icky packets that most bankruptcy attorneys require their clients to complete. Working across his desk with each client, Jeff completes each petition, hopefully reducing any mis-communications and certainly speeding up the process.
Jeff’s son Joseph is an Engineering student at Iowa State University and son James and daughter Holly are students at Roland-Story High School in Story City.
